Latley there has been some controversy over how India’s flag, the Tricolour, should be treated. Most of the world shows its patriotism in many ways, from car designs to wall paper, but in India, it is taken much more seriously when the flag is shown off in ways that some might deem innapropriate. Indians all over the world are divided in their thoughts of the flag and how it is sometimes represented. Some people are proud of their countries individuality, and say that they shouldn’t copy the habits of the rest of the world because they are so different. However, there are others who say that the flag belongs to India’s people and not the government, and that “every citizen has the right to flaunt it and feel proud.”The media has been criticizing celebrities in particular for insulting the flag, saying that some celebrities use the flag for cheap publicity. The Tricolour is the countries symbol at the UN, and is placed on the coffins of the countries soldiers and the media uses these facts to support their claim that celebrities insult the flag when they show it off. However, one Indian citizen says that the two proffesional sport players “Sachin Tendulkar and Sania Mizar who drain their sweat and blood for the glory of India have in no way insulted the Tricolour,” and this is the feeling of much of the public. There are also many people who feel the issue is trivial and does not deserve as much attention as it has been getting. Some Indian citizens say that they shouldn’t be wasting time on issues that have no bearing on the daily lives of India’s people, but should be focusing on the things that the flag represents, like the countries democracy. Also, it is confusing to some of the public how nobody takes offense to the incredible amounts of flags that are stepped on and thrown out after national holidays such as Independence and Republic Day, but when somebody decides to wear the flag as a shirt, people go crazy.Even after all this controversy, the question still remains. Are some Indians too touchy about the Tricolour, or are they right to feel disrespected when the see it on somebodies shirt while walking down the street?

I think that this is an extreamly important issue not just in india but throught the world. it always annoys me when i see clothes made with flags because it is such a strong symbol that it always struck me as extreamly disrespectful. on a side note it is actually illegal to make clothes with the american flag.
