Today we read our multimedia projects to our classmates in two groups.Daniel Levenson: He watched Dr. Strangelove and Vertigo. Dr. Strangelove pokes fun at the cold war. It’s about a psychotic general who tries to blow up Russia by issuing a nuclear attack on them. When the plan goes wrong and the entire world is on the brink of annihilation everyone turns to Dr. Strangelove to fix it. Dr. Strangelove is a nzi scientist and he tells th U.S. to choose ethnically specific people to go into a mountain and repopulate the Earth after the attack. Vertigo, a hitchock movie, shows the “bitter reality’s of life through a marvelous film”. Cyrus: The book Siddartha shows characteristics of how people should be through the main character Siddartha. Characteristics like filial piety. Siddartha stray’s from his path to enlightenment to become a merchatn, but eventually finds enlightenment. This shows that anyone can become enlightened. Claire: Lolita is a book about a man who falls in love with a 12 year old girl. It was rejected for years by American Publishers, but became a best seller in 1958. It highlights the conflicting positions of sensitive issues like pedophilia.Alissandro: Rules of the game is a french movie made in the 30’s.It shows the small class of upper class people with their lower class servants. It shows a society where class meant everything. A society where every man loves every woman. Alissandro believes that its a society based on dumb ideals. Citizen cane, directed by Orsen Wells, shows the problems with a generally weak society . The working class become puppets to the media and charles cain. Charles cain is a conflicted man who lets his greed for power corrupt him and ruin everything around him.Hart: The 60’s and 70′ was a time where the youth rjected the moreals of the previous generation. A time of freedom and rebellion. A time where people were not afraid to experiment with new things. A lot of these issues are seen in the music of that time. THeir are many references to these issues in the lyrics from artists like Bob Dylan.Emma Smith: Lolita is a book about an older man who falls in love with a twelve year old girl. In the book he talks about true love and how no matter what age you are true love is true love. It was a controversial book for its time because it had sexually suggestive themes pertaining to the youth.
